The cardio free diet is about the fact that cardio kills your weight loss efforts. Jim Karas, the author, was named one of the best personal trainers in the country by Allure magazine. He has trained Diane Sawyer, Hugh Jackman, or Oprah’s best pal Gayle King.
Jim has more than 20 years of experience as a weight loss and fitness professional. Jim has been working with clients one-on-one and has trained a team of personal trainers, the best and the brightest in New York and Chicago. Through Jim’s years of experience he has come to the conclusion that cardio absolutely kills.
The main reason cardio kills is because of the increased appetite effect that it causes. After cardio people tend to eat and they tend to eat more than the amount of calories they burned. This phenomenon, according to scientific studies is known as compensation.
People compensate for the burned calories by eating extra calories. Have you ever seen someone that trained for a marathon and was still overweight? I have and she is still overweight because she compensated for all the miles she ran by eating extra calories. Isn’t that terrible?
There isn’t too much that we can do to increase our metabolism. Heavier people have a higher amount of calories burned per day because even fat burns some calories per day. What’s better is muscle. Muscle gained can translate into extra calories burned.
While a pound of fat burns roughly 2 to 3 calories per day, a pound of muscle burns about 20 to 36 calories per day. The University of Tufts claimed that strength training could increase your metabolism by as much as 15 percent.
Strength training is not that popular with women because of the fear that it will make them big and bulking; however, this isn’t true unless your taking anabolic steroids and working out like a bodybuilder which isn’t practical. Strength training will instead make you leaner and sexier than ever.
In Jim’s 20+ years of strength training he has never had one woman of his get big and bulky like the female bodybuilders. The women bodybuilders eat tons of calories to maintain their size and they pump tons of testosterone into their body to grow muscle.
Naturally, normal women don’t create the amount of
testosterone needed to get big and bulky. Instead, when women workout with
heavy weights like they should they will respond by shrinking in size, yup,
that’s right, their waistline, arms and hips will get smaller.
The goal of The Cardio Free Diet is to create the calorie deficit that is needed to lose weight and tighten up. There are four primary ways to achieve this goal: 1) Eat Less, 2) Increase your activity, 3) Elevate your basal metabolic rate and 4) Do all of the previously mentioned and you’ll be doing it The Cardio Free Diet way.
